To Improve Me Polo.

Need suggestions as to improving the Little Blue Girl.

First of all we're going too quick now for the original rotors & calipers, copped heaps of fading on the last track day (it was scary to say the least).

Next, need to come up with a permanent solution for blowing turbo gaskets.

Spring ratings, running 250lbs linear in the front at the moment, but feel its not enough.

Will upgraded exhaust manifold help.

Will updraded inlet manifold help.

1: Alcons rule, a little pricey, but the last set of brakes you will ever need.
2: Springs - maybe, if the dampers can handle the spring rates. bigger sway bar may help.
3: exhaust manifold - not much in my knowledge, the quality is ordinary, access is limited because of bigger runners & the bolts still come lose.

weld the turbo to the manifold.

4: not a lot to be gained from intake manifold unless you are going stage 3!

Hoyhoy.

Sway bar is done, standard = 20mm, Whiteline = 22mm & me got Whiteline to make a 24mm one some time ago & its set on the stiffest setting.

O.K. Me know its sounds funny, but welding it is, have been looking into this, not as silly as it sounds.
Will try to photograph events when going along this path.

The lastest.
O.K. Little bit bigger brakes, Audi MK1 TT 225 set up front & rear all new, but a bit different on the front >.

Heavier springs front & rear.

Turbo welded in a sort of way. (bolts) after being done up F******Tight.
Also modified the existing turbo to engine block bracket & added another one.

Me is hoping the little bugger bolts stay as is this time.
I just can't see how they will come loose now, but I'll be waiting for something to go wrong.

Hoyhoy.

Guess what, the turbo gasket didn't blow when doing a recent track day.
Had other problems instead.

Good (and bad) - did you sort the brakes?

Hoyhoy.

NO, the brakes are still a problem
Rang that chap you mentioned & several others but ended going to see a mob in Penrith, (Euro & Aussie mechanics) two chaps went for run in the girl & thought that it wasn't an air problem, then started looking around & came up with a conclusion it was the front caliper carriers not running true.
So I tracked with half a pedal, the longer the period between brake applications the worse it was.
These were the ute boot carriers from over-seas, have started measuring things & it looks like I will have to get some original TT Mk 1's.
,,,
Another problem was a blown intercooler hose, (first one in 2 years) trying to think of some sticky stuff to put in the joins with out it getting into the air system.
,,,
Then the big one happened again loosing a tyre on the front near side corner, nearly went into the armco wall after turn ten @ Waky.
Thank heavens for that LSD plated diff ya got for me Guy.
This problem turns out to be that there is hardly any bead lock on the rims, so new rims for that one.
,,,
Other than that me had fun but not getting to my PB,,, & still in one peice, so all is O.K. & will be ready to go again soon.

Glad you are OK, that was some adventure!

What we do with inter cooler hoses is clean both surfaces with an enamel thinner & put them on when slightly wet, then clamp them up. The thinners gets rid of all oil & "etches" the rubber surface slightly for awesome grip.

Hoyhoy.

After result of the tyre when using with out bead lock on the rims.
Yet another new one out the window, well not this one its going to be hanging up in the garage.
Unless someone wants it for a motorbike.
P.S. Me reckons the sexy legs look better than the tyre.

Don't need original's, all fixed after a couple of hours of hand filing, now blue printed, apparently the Mk1 TT stub axle is slightly different even though the main bolt size is the same, so all is good.
